Phoebe Bag

In this post a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I would really like to make the Phoebe bag from artsycraftybabe.

So last night that's exactly what I did!

There are still waaay to many mistakes and really this was just my "tester". I still need to sew around the top edge.

I used a goldish color for the lining and made a pocket out of the exterior fabric.

The back.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with it!

You can find the free pattern for this purse at artsycraftybabe's blog. She also has some really cute patterns for sale in her etsy shop!

Dido

Life For Rent - Dido

Whatever happen to Dido?

And was I the only one that just loved her?

(Not sure what happen to the last video I posted!)

Folk Arts and Crafts

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Berea Crafts Festival and I hadn't posted pictures from the day yet.

Berea has a new little restaurant, The Black Feather.

The decor is really cute, but food was just ok. Also, they don't have soda and I think thats just dumb. That actually makes me consider not eating there again. Maybe I'm dumb.

See my glass of water? Grrr. That usually wouldn't happen.

And here's the Berea Craft Festival. It really is a cute little festival.

Fun was had by all!

Who wouldn't at a crafts festival in the Folk Arts and Crafts Capitol of Kentucky?!

Oh my goodness, I just noticed on The Black Feather website they have organic sodas now! When I was there, the girl working told me all they had were "flavored syrups that you could add to something". Like what? Water? No thanks. Well, maybe they wised up a little!

Julie & Julia

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a movie!

I really hope it's everything I imagine it to be.

>

My heart actually beats fast every time I watch the trailer!

I can really relate to Julie in the beginning of this movie sometimes!

Really relate!

I just love Julia Child. I remember being a little moved when I visited Julia's kitchen at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. It was fascinating!

I have a feeling this is going to be a very emotional movie for me. Especially right now. I'm not sure if the timing of this movie is a good thing or a bad thing for me. I just feel like everyday is so routine and boring for me. I'm not doing what I love and I'm really not even sure I know what that is! I'm just in a frump. I usually do this about every 3 years. Sorry if you are one of my friends and you are having to hear this same pitty story again.

I joke with my friends sometimes when I'm feeling this way by saying "I can feel the wind start to blow." Just like how Vianne felt in Chocolat. My all time favorite movie.

I don't even think that many people liked the movie, including most everyone I know. This movie spoke to me so much for some reason. I've never seen a movie that I could watch 2 times in a row like this one. I almost know every line! I have actually watched it 2 times in one day and probably seen it a total of 25 times!

I want the night Julie & Julia comes out to be special. I just can't wait to see it!

And I THINK YOU SHOULD TOO! So there. Go see it. And if you see me there just overlook me. I might cry. A little.

Oh here we go again...this is going to be another Chocolat for me!

Lynn's Paradise Cafe

Last weekend I had to chance to visit Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Louisville, KY.

If you're from Kentucky you may have heard of it or seen Lynn's Paradise Cafe on TV. It's been on several shows including Throwdown with Bobby Flay, which is where I first heard of it.

It really is an experience and the food is unbelievably good!
I had the Kentucky Farmhouse Scramble, which was part of the Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

I know...I took the time to underline that line in the picture and you can't even see it. Yay me!

Here's a better view.

Three fluffy eggs scrambled with Clifty Farms country ham, roasted red peppers, and Kenny's Farmhouse Jarlsberg Cheese (made in Austin, KY), then garnished with fried tobacco onions. Served with fried green tomatoes that are topped with Parmesan garlic mayonnaise and buttermilk biscuits with sorghum butter.

That made my mouth water just typing it.

Shauna, Shari's sister, had the Spinach Omelet which she claimed was equally delicious.

Thanks Shauna for taking us! And for allowing us to stay in your awesome house!

We had a great time at Lynn's. If you live remotely close to Louisville, KY, you should go to Lynn's Paradise Cafe as fast as possible!

I think it's a little pricey for breakfast, but so worth it!

Now I wanna call in sick to work tomorrow morning. ;)

It might be to obvious after this post though. They know me too well!

Look What I Can Do

You have to say that like Stuart would on MADtv.

Anyway, Rolled Fondant class was so much fun last night!
(I'm a really big dork aren't I?)

I'm half-way happy with my cake.

It's not that I don't like it, I just wish the colors would have turned out a little different and there are quite a few mistakes. But hey, OK for my first time attempt though.

Here is my 1st fondant creation.

I really like our instructor for my cake decorating classes and everyone else in the class is so sweet and so much fun to work with. I think I'll miss them.

Here are the other cakes that were created last night. My pictures are a little blurry and I'm not sure why.

No orders at this time please!

Ha ha

It's Like Riding a Bike

Look what I got yesterday!

Doesn't Shari look so much happier taking it for a spin? And she is still in work clothes!

I was really on it for like 7 minutes and I'm SORE today! No lie.

It kicked my butt! Literally. Seriously.

All my family and friends are laughing at the thought of me riding a bicycle!

Ha! Me too!

The tags are still on it because I haven't decided if I want to keep it yet.

Sweet Tooth

I'm up to my eyeballs in frosting and fondant these days!

Right now I have two classes a week. Every Monday and Wednesday.

Shew! Lord help me!

Tonight I'm making Rolled Buttercream.

Tomorrow night I'm decorating my first cake with fondant.

I need a lot of luck and patience!

You Really Are Missin Somethin

Can you tell I really like this pose?

My husband's family has a barn.
With horses and chickens. And usually several hundred goats.

I love love love visiting the barn!
Everyone there thinks it's pretty funny that I love taking pictures of everything because it's just so ordinary to them.

My little cousin, Maria, works at the barn at a regular basis. Much to her dismay.
While watching her huff and puff about having to feed the chickens, I told her she should feel lucky. "A lot of girls would love to do this", I said.

Her response was "Well, they AIN"T missin nothin."

She is a sweet girl.

Here are some more pics.

See me in the eyeball?! This is my grandfather-in-law, Lonnie...on a 5 gallon bucket in the middle of the yard. He is such a funny, adorable man. And I just love him to pieces.
He loves telling me what he has to eat in his freezer everytime I visit him. Usually he SAYS he has deer, opossum, goat, squirrel, raccoon, turkey, and anything else you could imagine. The only thing I don't believe he has is opossum.

Although I do know he has had it before.
